A little of my background
I have a degree in Engineering from Cambridge University, and I lived and worked in Japan for over 12 years.
In 1992 I passed the Level 1 Japanese Language Proficiency Test, and I started working as a Japanese translator and interpreter in 1993. I received specialist training in Patent translation from 1993 to 1995 while working as the in-house Japanese-English translator with RWS Translations, the largest patent translation specialist in the world.
Having relocated to Japan, in 1996 I earned a Grade 1 in the Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT), and a Grade A in the Japanese Oral Communication Test, open only to candidates who have obtained Grade 1 in the BJT.
I also have over 12 years experience in a range of strategic, managerial and operational roles with blue-chip manufacturing organisations in Japan and China.
My main non-work-related interests are singing and choral conducting. I currently sing in several choirs and am an accomplished baritone soloist. Visit my website for more details.
